I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 engine on it and I have it chipped with the Superchips Programmer, I added Gibson Headers, it's getting straight pipped with flowmasters next week and I'm going to remove the cats, and I'm also adding a K%26amp;N intake on it, what else can i do to it to get my bang for my buck?? Can you guys help me out, thank you?? i havent tested it out but im just trying to beat or atleast compete with a Ford LightningHow do i get more horsepower on a 05' Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 engine on it?
To compete with a Lightning you're going to have to do something major, either head work and a cam, or a supercharger. You've already done the biggest gainer with the headers. You may want to re-think removing the cats. If you do remove the cats make sure you install simulators or it won't run correctly, if at all, and it won't really increase performance all that much. the cat-back and intake will add a little, but you're probably still going to be around 50 hp shy of a Lightning. How do i get more horsepower on a 05' Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 engine on it?
You have to look up STS turbos on the net.
I want to get one for my car since they offer the power of a turbo, but since its mounted under the car it last longer and hooks up very easyily.
One guy with a silverado reg cab with a short bed is running 11.99 in the quater with a 4.8 liter V8. Plus there is many more really fast trucks that are on the website plus all the upgrades they offer. How do i get more horsepower on a 05' Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 engine on it?
Listen to McLaren. removing the cats may do the opposite of making it go fast . It may make it run on the limp home circuit.
If you want to keep up or beat a Lightening then you have to go to the gun fight with a gun. Put a supercharger on it. Magnuson makes one that is a tidy package.
Can your Silverado run on E-85? If so, it increases horsepower.
