this was in michigan and seller never mentioned in a auto ad or when I was purchasing the car at his homeIs the seller liable for not acknowledging the vehicle has a salvage/rebuilt tile?
No..that's a question YOU need to askIs the seller liable for not acknowledging the vehicle has a salvage/rebuilt tile?
Actually it depends on the state I know in colorado they actually make the seller disclose by signing papers and in some states u might have a certain time period to return it you need to call the dmv and see cause he might have been required to specify or disclose it in a bill of sale but there is also a chance u are screwed but def look into it cause it will be difficult for you to sell it and the value of the vehicle will be a lot lower and in some states dealers aren't allowed to sell salvage title vehicles and will not take it on a trade in.if your stuck with it you should try investigating the title history and why the salvage title was issued.I know they are issued when a car is considered a total loss but if its an older car it could have been in a minor accident and was lightly damaged but still totaled due to repair cost or it could be a theft recovery and somebody replaced the stolen part.most states require an inspection before a s-title vehicle can be re-regestired which is usually don by the highway patrol.if you are totally stuc with it find out all the info u can and the extent of the damages that occured and have it looked over by a professional just to make sure the repairs were done properly and safely.there's nothing wrong with a s title since I have seen cars total when they look like easy fixes or there isn't much damage or just some stuff stolen off them so there is a chance it isn't nothing to worry about and prob something u can live with or if there is no laws or regs about disclosing a s-title just list it for sale and pass it along just like the person before u did its up to you I tried to look up som info for u but am limited with only havin a phone but u might be legally to force the seller to buy the car back since michigan has strict s title laws http://www.michigan.gov/documents/sos/De鈥?/a> this site might help if not contact your local dmv or an attorney that deals in title issues my brother had the same issue when he was 16 but since the car was a real good price and he really wanted it and it was all cosmetic damage that was properly repaired even though he could have legally forced the seller to buy it back he decided to keep it so if the car is older and isn't worth much and was a good price and the damages were minor and u are able to return it like we were then the choice is yours on what u wanna do and don't forget that that person might not even have the money to buy it back so that might be another issue
