Poor cat needs advice on servicing starter on minivan,help?

I can't afford a reconditioned starter and the nearest auto salvage is too far. I just would like to know if anyone has ever or can suggest on how to recondition a starter solenoid (because they are not sold separate) on this vehicle:

Plymouth Grand voyager

3.3 liter

front wheel drive

You can buy new contacts for the solenoids and a new contact ring and plunger,the down side is that these parts cost about the same as a used starter from the wreckers.Poor cat needs advice on servicing starter on minivan,help?

smack yours with a hammer with the key on.. then drive to a salvage yard... starters should be plentiful ... don't shut it off untill you get home
i don't know if you can but when i was broke, i went to the junk yard and the replacement was a snap (less than 1 hour)
