1) Do ALL 1999-2001 crown vic interceptors come with a aluminum metal matrix composite driveshaft?(im wondering because i have a 2000).Or do the 2002-2005 have them too?
2)Can i reprogram my stock police interceptor "chip" with a Superchips Programmer ( http://i13.ebayimg.com/05/i/001/24/29/64f3_1.JPG ), or will i have to buy a "superchip"?
3) Is it true that 1999-early 2001 model crown vic interceptors have no speed and rpm limiter, and were equipped with 3.55 gears? If this is true should it make these models the fastest?
4) Finally one of my buddies is looking for a crown vic interceptor, and he wants to know what year car he should get, he's looking to buy a 1999-2003, and he wants to know what 1 is the fastest and has the highest performance for a stock car? He also wants it to have a aluminum metal matrix composite driveshaft. What year should he get? Some questions about a crown vic interceptor?
1. I think so, I've never heard otherwise
2. If it's a 1996 or later you will be using a hand held tuner, not a "chip"
3. As far as I know no P71 had a speed limiter. The all have RPM limiters though. Most had 3.27 rear ends, 3.55's were more common in newer models.
4. Get a 2001 or new model. Those have the P.I. heads/intake. The 2005- up models have the Marauder intake which is nice and good for an extra 10 HP or so.
Keep in mind these are still not particularly fast cars. Only the newer models can break 16 seconds in the 1/4 mile in stock form. Most mid-sized sedans and just about every sport compact, and every V8 Mustang or F-body will blow it's doors off.
