05 RX8 Automatic vs Durango modded?

2000 Dodge Durango vs 05 Mazda RX8?

I have sort of a weird question...

My friend is getting a RX8 soon and he thinks that it will be faster than my truck, i think i will beat him but i wanted to know what you guys think...

Here is the interesting part, The RX8 is a automatic, i have read that it is lethargic and takes upwards and even over 8 seconds to get to 60 is this true?

My truck has a 4.7L V8 Magnum, it has the following..

Superchips 3815 tuner - automatic shift points are at 6,000rpm, no speed limiter

Poweraid throttle body spacer

Thrush exhaust

custom intake with K%26amp;N filter

It also has AWD so i can launch it very hard and take off

I can do 0-60 in 6.9-7.2 seconds average, 0-100 ranges from 17-18 seconds, but i just want to know what you guys thought, do you think i can win?!!!

Below is a video of my durango 0-60/100

Thanks!!!

RX8 isn't fast, nor is it even close to a beast. 15 second 1/4 mile times for the manual, slower for the automatic. Now, with that said, your Durango isn't going to really be any better, except for the fact that the RX-8's rotary has virtually ZERO torque. If your Durango was the 5.9 R/T, it would be a close race to the end of 1/4 mile with the manual RX-8, much less the auto. I don't know about what you have, or how the 4.7 responds to modifications, but I'm not sure it's quite up to the level of the 5.2 and 5.9. Overall, I think it would be pretty close, and personally, if I wanted a 4 door vehicle, I'd rather have the Durango over the RX-8, but that's for other reasons. If I had an RX-8, it'd need a V8 transplanted into it.
Actually, I'm quite familiar with the mopar LA series of engines, and I did say "I don't know how the 4.7 responds to said modifications" compared to the LA engines, which respond quite well, as I've never known anyone who had the 4.7.

As for speed, the 318 and the 4.7 are about equal in HP (The 4.7 higher by 10hp I think), but the 318 has more torque, and the 360 has more of both. The 360 is one of the best smallblock engines Dodge has offered, but I'm guessing you didn't know that.

If your still going to read this ive probably got some good news for your durango. My wife has an 05 stock RX 8, its pushes 238 hp at 8500 some rpms. I own a 2009 Acura TSX (not a very fast car) it has 201 hp. We raced, and it was a dead even match....YOUR DURANGO WILL WIN

The automatic tranny RX8's are not that fast and you might squeak a win in a straight line...but who cares.

The RX8 was not made as a straight line red light racer. It was designed as a road-race car. In this hypothetical drag race with your Durango if there's even 1 corner involved you'll be laying on your side and the RX8 will kick your a$$.
Well, you may win the race, but you'll get zero points for style. Why in the world would you be the least bit interested in a friggin' truck's 0-60 time? That's not what it was made for. Lose the Dodge and find something cool to drive. And leave the racing to someone that knows a little about physics.
From 0-60 you are both about equal. After that, the RX-8 will have a slight edge due to aerodynamics and weight.

Honestly, it should be a fair race. RX-8's suck though. They are not nearly as fast as they look and they eat oil like crazy.
Really? "I'll race whatever I drive?"

You're an idiot. Seriously, the fact that you said that proves you are a HUGE ricer, and definitely don't belong behind the wheel of anything bigger than a smart car.
It depends if his Rx8 will be modded already or not. Since its automatic its should only be a 4 speed which goes to bout 40mph in 1st speed, 70 in 2nd and so on. It also depends on how far or fast you guys will go. The rx8 is a sick beast (i have one) but i think your truck will take the rx8 if its just 1st gear.

And actually Kenny rx8 dont eat as much oil as you think. I changed my oil after 4k miles and it was still fine.
