How well will a 4:10 rear end help with my horsepower?

i drive a 04 dodge 1500,4X4 hemi, i have a superchips programer,k%26amp;n cold air intake and a single chamber flowmaster exhaust. i am tryin to gain some more hp and a friend mentioned the 4:10 rear end to me. i was wonderin if there would be a great gain in horsepower and the affects on my gas milliage? i also am tryin to figure out if there is a certain setting i can use with my super chips programer to get the most horsepower out of it?How well will a 4:10 rear end help with my horsepower?
It will not change your HP,however it will be faster off the line but will lose a little on top end. Also your mpg will drop.
Rear gear ratio change will not give you more HP..It will give you the feeling of more power at start due to the lower ratio launching the car harder. You will see a major reduction in fuel mileage, and higher RPM's at all speeds, and a reduced top speed of the vehicle. How well will a 4:10 rear end help with my horsepower?
You will not gain or lose any horsepower, all you are changing is the gearing of the truck. You will have stronger acceleration from start, you will sacrifice top speed, and your gas mileage will be less.
It won't change the HP but remember you would have to also change the gearing in the front end too. It will also mess up every thing the computer regulates. Friends are always about 95% wrong with their advise. How well will a 4:10 rear end help with my horsepower?
that rear end will not do much for the horse power, but it will be a very torquey rear end. gas mileage will suffer.
Gears do not help horsepower infact they dont do anything. With 4:10's you will get up to speed quicker but will have a lower top end speed and depending on your transmission you will be in at high RPMS at highway speeds. It will feel like youve gained horsepower trust me, i went from 2.72's to 3.73's i get there quicker but i dont have as much of a Top end as i did before.
